Bill Arras  > BALLOONING > America's Challenge, October 2005
In October, 2005, Janet and I flew 1495 miles/2407km from Albuquerque, New Mexico to Ontario, Canada. The flight was 46 hours nonstop. Imagine spending 46 hours in a 3' x 4' basket with another person, it's pretty interesting! The flight was wonderful, with beautiful sunsets, stars and sunrises, a sea of clouds below for the entire second day. Strong sun was perfect for tanning! We had a good landing out in the Canadian bush and were 'rescued' by the Ontario Provincial Police. Four volunteer firemen extracted the balloon from the trees the next day, with zero damage. The distance we flew really sank in as we spent the two days after the flight driving back to where we started. Wow, that was a long way. By making the longest flight from Albuquerque during the evnt in 2005, we won the America's Challenge!
