We spent three beautiful days and two wonderful nights in Yosemite during the generally busy park's quiet time, in mid December. Our lodging was in the best suite in the Ahwahnee Hotel, with a view of Yosemite Falls from the bed and bathtub! There was also a view of Half Dome... from the roof, just outside a window! The Ahwahnee was decked out with Christmas decor and fires burning in all the fireplaces. Perfectly festive. Our stay was immediately prior to the posh Bracebridge dinner/show. We were treated to free, intimate recitals along with the few other guests in the hotel. We pinched ourselves regularly to make sure the experience was real. On the first night dinner in the dining room was great. The second day we hiked in the snow up to Idaho and Nevada Falls. Afterward we enjoyed a casual dinner in the comfort of our own room: wine, nibbles and a main course of spicy sausages roasted on a stick over the open fire! Bet that was a first in the Ahwahnee... This place pegs the scale on romantic get-aways combined with scenic wonders.
