Mountain Magic I, September 18, 2015
After a storm dropped a foot of snow in the mountains near Bend, the skies cleared and the winds calmed. On this flight, the first day of clear weather after the snow arrived, I took off 1/2 hour before sunrise and watched from the air as light spread over the landscape. The temperature was close to freezing on take-off and only got colder as I climbed, but it was worth flying in the cold in order to see the mountains all fancy in their new white coats. Had it not been for the limitation of fuel, I could have stayed up there all day enjoying the show.Read More
